The New Jersey Devils signed newly acquired forward Luke Evangelista to a five-year, $36.25 million extension.

The deal announced Tuesday night begins with the 2027-28 season and carries a $7.25 million average annual value. He is due to earn $3 million in 2026-27.

The Devils acquired Evangelista from the Nashville Predators on Sept. 1, sending a conditional 2028 first-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick to the Predators.

Evangelista, 24, is coming off his first 50-point season. He set career highs in games (81), assists (44) and points (56) in 2025-26.

The Toronto native has posted 142 points (45 goals, 97 assists) in 253 regular-season games since being drafted in the second round by Nashville in 2020.
