Logan Stankoven posted his first career hat trick after Andrei Svechnikov scored two first-period power play goals as the Carolina Hurricanes ripped the Vancouver Canucks 7-2 on Thursday night at Raleigh, N.C.
K'Andre Miller and Mark Jankowski had the other Carolina goals as the team's winning streak reached three games.
Sean Walker notched his first career four-assist game and Shayne Gostisbehere, Jackson Blake and Taylor Hall all had two assists. Pyotr Kochetkov made 18 saves.
Jake DeBrusk scored twice and Elias Pettersson added two assists for Vancouver, which trailed 4-0 at the time but didn't rally further in the first stop of a six-game road trip.
Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen made 12 saves on 18 shots across two periods before Leevi Merilainen was in the net for the third.
The Hurricanes, who never led in their first two home games last week, scored three times on five shots in the first 9 1/2 minutes.
Miller converted 1:18 into the game, fielding a rebound after William Carrier's redirected shot bounced off the post.
Svechnikov received a pass from Gostisbehere on the left side of the crease and made a move to the front and beat Lankinen for a power-play tally for his first goal of the night.
Slightly more than two minutes later, Svechnikov worked from the other side of the crease, accepted Jackson Blake's passing and shoving the puck past Lankinen just 17 seconds into a power play.
The Canucks ended the first period with four shots on goal.
Jankowski opened the second-period scoring. DeBrusk's first goal of the season came 43 seconds later.
Stankoven scored the first short-handed goal of his career with 6:47 to play in the second period for a 5-1 edge. He took a feed from Walker in transition to score for the second time this season. It marked Carolina's first short-handed goal of the season.
Stankoven followed with a power-play goal with 58 seconds left in the second period.
