Dylan Guenther scored twice, Anders Lee tallied in his Mammoth debut and Utah routed the Chicago Blackhawks 6-0 Thursday night in Salt Lake City.

Michael Carcone had a goal and an assist, and Nick Schmaltz and Daniil But also scored for the Mammoth in their season opener. Clayton Keller had two assists and Karel Vejmelka made 15 saves for his ninth career shutout.

Arvid Soderblom made 26 saves for the Blackhawks, who have started the season with two road losses.

The Mammoth went 2-for-3 on the power play; the Blackhawks were 0-for-3. Utah also won 39 of 54 faceoffs (72.2 percent).

Utah dominated the first period and outshot Chicago 13-7, but the game was scoreless until the Mammoth scored twice in a 40-second span late in the stanza.

Guenther gave the Mammoth a 1-0 lead at 16:41 of the period when he took a pass from Logan Cooley on a power play, moved up and scored through a screen from the top of the right circle.

It was the third straight season in which Guenther scored the first franchise (Utah or Arizona) goal.

Carcone made it 2-0 at 17:21 when Kevin Stenlund intercepted a pass behind the net and fed Carcone, who scored on a wrist shot from the bottom of the left circle.

Schmaltz increased the lead to 3-0 when he scooped in a rebound at the right post at 9:47 of the second period.

The 36-year-old Lee, signed as a free agent in the offseason, made it 4-0 at 13:06 when he tipped in Andrew Peeke's shot from the top of the right circle.

Guenther scored his second goal of the game when he tipped in Keller's cross-ice pass at the right post during a power play at 15:28 to make it 5-0.

Utah outshot Chicago 13-2 in the period.

But made it 6-0 at 12:50 of the third period, tipping in Carcone's shot from along the boards past Soderblom.
